Salem United Methodist Women

The organized unit of United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation of the Global ministries of the Church. We provide semi-monthly envelopes for and hold activities at Salem to support missions such as: Appalachian Service Project, Senior Citizens Banquet, Ingathering, Christmas in July, Operation Child Shoebox, Thankoffering Service, American Cancer Society, Lancaster Prison Ministry, Red Bird Mission, Salvation Army, Water Street Ministries, S. June Smith Center, Love Inc., Christ Home, Salem Family Ministry, and more.  Please visit the SW District UMC website UMC Women Website or facebook page UMC Women Facebook for more information.

There is a standing invitation for any Salem United Methodist Women to join the Executive Committee. Please contact Barb Travitz-Steffy if you would like more information or have any input for the Methodist women ministry at UMW of Salem church in Manheim.

news2News from Salem’s UMW Work Circle

This past year the UMW Work Circle has been busy with many projects. In the Spring for their Ingathering project 176 items, including 4 handmade shawls and 2 blankets were distributed to four local clothing banks. Over the Summer, they sent 31 knitted hats with our ASP Team to Tennessee and most recently, this Fall, in conjunction with Wednesday Night Suppers and the Shoe Giveaway, they supplied 100 assorted men’s, ladies and children’s hats for giveaway.

If you are interested in joining the  UMW  Work Circle, just come on the first Wednesday of each month. We start at 9:00am and work until 11 or 11:30am. If you have questions about the Salem UMW Work Circle, please contact Judy Brandt at 665-7098.
